Tim Goode

Licensed Professional Counselor · SC #5709 · GoodeCounsel LLC

Tim Goode is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of clinical experience working with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, and the kinds of relational ruptures that don't resolve on their own.

The Prodigal Parent is an extension of that clinical work — built specifically for Christian parents estranged from an adult child, and grounded in the belief that the path forward is available, even when it feels impossible.

The education that shaped the work.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Evangel University in 2007, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in 2010. That combination — rigorous theological training alongside clinical preparation — is not incidental to this work. It is the foundation of it.

Most counselors bring either a clinical lens or a theological one. Tim brings both, and knows how to hold them together without collapsing one into the other. That matters when you are working with parents whose faith is not separable from their pain.

The clinical approach.

Tim's clinical work is grounded in evidence-based practice, with particular depth in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed care. Over 15 years of practice, the through-line has been the same: most of what keeps people stuck is not a character flaw — it is a pattern learned in response to pain, often long ago.

That insight shapes everything about The Prodigal Parent framework. The postures that contribute to estrangement — rigidity, conditional love, the inability to separate conviction from relationship — are rarely chosen deliberately. They are usually learned. And what is learned can change.

The faith that grounds the framework.

Tim is a person of deep Christian faith. That faith is not a credential or a marketing angle — it is the actual ground from which this work grows. The Prodigal Parent framework is not a secular clinical tool with a theological veneer. It is a genuinely faith-rooted reframing of one of Scripture's most beloved stories, offered to parents who take both their faith and their family seriously.

Tim holds his own theological convictions and understands what it costs to hold them carefully in relationship. That is the posture The Prodigal Parent invites — not a revision of belief, but a deepening of how belief is lived toward the people we love.

Why this work.

The Prodigal Parent did not begin as a product idea. It began in the clinical room, in conversations with parents who were suffering quietly and had nowhere to take that suffering that held both their faith and their pain without asking them to choose between the two.

It grew from Tim's own experience — experiences he carries personally and has chosen not to detail publicly. What he will say is this: this work is not theoretical. The framework is not constructed at a distance. It is built from the inside.

This work is not about getting your child back. It is about becoming the kind of parent your child might one day be able to connect with.
